This is “Plume”. It was made with aggressive freedom, and action-packed play paired with areas of meticulous blending of a brush, and cutting/writing with a pallet knife in other places to make as diverse a terrain as possible. Then the black interrupts the wild colorful land with a pillar of a whirling, whooshing, dark, smoke-like entity. Laid thick and tacky with ridges and bumps in the vein of half-wet tar, it incites in me thoughts of pollution both in the literal and behavioral senses.
This is a scene that shows the superposition of any disruptive act. Like a tornado, it takes center stage for better or worse. The piece is made as a feast for the eyes that will engage, attract, and become more complicated and dynamic in texture and theme as you look longer.
With as many types of application of paint used, the forms and textures offer plenty of imaginative fodder for the eye to enjoy and excavate, and the subjects stage a scenario for the mind to consider and apply to choices in the real world regarding disruption and disharmony.
