Hello, thank you for visiting! My name is Blake Lafita, and welcome to my shop of creations. There have been many stages of life that have lead me here, and every one of them turned out an art form in some way. Now this, a full and private online shop for original creations made out of the many aims and mediums of my life in art I call "The Unfurnished Business".

The Unfurnished Business started as a woodworking project where I would receive commissions to make wood creations like tables, side tables, desks, and shelves out of reclaimed wood. Since I am operating out of my studio in Hollywood, over time the woodworking was not sustainable. So I pivoted to a print-on-demand business through Etsy. That wasn't so fulfilling, as I was creating things to try to sell in large numbers and wasn't delving into the most profound of creative ways that I knew I could.

Leaving behind Etsy, I decided to fire on all cylinders towards restoring guitars and painting them with the intention to sell them on Venice Beach. Then, my car was totaled, sideswiped by some teenagers, and my daily personal UHAUL to Venice was taken from me.

“How do I turn this around?”, I thought. My answer was this: stockpile painted guitars, diversify inventory by producing tons of original paintings as well, and list them all on a .com of the company name. So, purchasing a piece here is special because these are the real-time creations coming out of my studio right now as an act of freedom and devotion.

It is my aspiration to ignite the viewer’s imagination, to see deeply, and inspire multi-dimensional vision and thinking using meditation, experimentation, exploration, intuition, feeling, and personal meaning of what I produce and share here at The Unfurnished Business.
