You are seeing a depiction of a mindscape - the unmanifest, unbounded imaginal space you enter turning inward to watch forms of thought and image appear in a raw real-time arena of mind. Instead of painting “the void” like a black liminal space of random emergences, I like this take which keeps the white dominant almost to the likeness of faded denim, or an overexposed photograph of an infant’s dream.

We popularly refer to the “third eye”, the transcendental capstone of imagination. It is talked of in visionary art as the portal to receiving visions and lessons from beyond our basic state of being. I’ve experienced that grace of vision, but have known it also as a place purely of the self - a space of exact thought-feeling projection like an “arena” of imaginal Play-Doh. This piece invites the viewer into that directionless space where thoughts emerge into form, and imagination becomes matter. It is the place where intuition, memory, intention, the subconscious, and accumulated energy blend into one terrain.

See in the upper left, a group of tourists (or “Folks”) carefully taking in the swirling, whirling, warbling world of half-completed forms. Spend some time to look closely for worldly items and entities I was sure to bring out. Look too for your own mind at the lines and shapes less overtly spelling out what’s there. Do you see something only your mind would show you?

This is not a map, or exact image of a memory, but a fertile ground. It is a tour of the place just behind your forehead where ideas have a pulse beyond words.
